Public disapproval of President Trump’s immigration policy is increasing, according to a new CBS News/YouGov survey. The poll shows a majority of U.S. adults now oppose the administration’s deportation strategy, with fewer believing it targets criminals. Trump’s approval rating has dropped to 42%, down from 53% in February, as he marks six months into his second term.

The decline follows an expansion of ICE operations, reportedly ordered in May by White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, to arrest more undocumented immigrants, including those without criminal records. The shift has sparked backlash among Democrats and independents.

Support among Republicans remains high at 91%, but 59% of independents disapprove. Meanwhile, belief that the administration prioritizes criminal deportations has fallen from 53% to 44%, while 56% now say the focus is on non-criminals.

“He is spending all this money now on going around and terrorizing communities,” Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA) said on Fox News Sunday.
