A devastating flood in Ekorinim 1, Calabar, has led to the tragic death of five-year-old Mathias, who was swept away while playing in the rain. Miraculously, another child, Covenant, was dramatically rescued by a brave resident, Mr. Abam Usang Bassey, after being caught in the strong current.
The incident has ignited renewed calls from the community for urgent government intervention to improve the dilapidated drainage and road infrastructure, which residents say are primary causes of dangerous flooding.
