Residents of Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters in Kano metropolis have been thrown into mourning after unknown assailants attacked the home of Haruna Bashir, killing his wife and six children. The attack, described by residents as one of the most shocking incidents in the area, occurred on Friday at Dorayi Gidan Kwari, where the victims were reportedly assaulted with dangerous weapons after hoodlums broke into the residence.
The deceased were identified as Fatima Abubakar, 35, and her children Maimuna, 17; Aisha, 16; Bashir, 13; Abubakar, 10; Faruk, 7; and Abdussalam, aged one and a half years. A resident, Kabiru Ibrahim, said the community was still in shock, adding that the bodies were evacuated to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, where they were confirmed dead. Confirming the incident, Kano State Police spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, had ordered a full investigation, with the Criminal Investigation Department already probing the attack to track down the perpetrators.
