A seasoned town planner, Kazeem Bakinson, has urged Nigerian youths to explore the economic potential of drone mapping technology. This call was made during an onboarding session for 125 youths participating in a drone mapping training program aimed at introducing them to the technology’s scope and economic opportunities.
The initiative’s first phase involves onboarding, followed by online and practical training. Bakinson emphasized the importance of securing drone operating licenses from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, ensuring participants can legally utilize their new skills.
Acquired skills from the program are expected to create job opportunities in various sectors, including oil companies, and contribute to poverty reduction and youth empowerment. The training, set to conclude in early 2026, will cover specializations like drone piloting and engineering.
