Tottenham thrash Burnley 3-0 as Richarlison scores twice on season opener

Richarlison scored twice in Tottenham’s 3-0 win over Burnley, giving new head coach Thomas Frank a dream Premier League start.

Tottenham began their Premier League season with a commanding 3-0 victory over newly-promoted Burnley at their home ground on Wednesday. Richarlison opened the scoring with a sensational scissor kick before doubling the lead in the 60th minute, converting a Mohammed Kudus cross with a superb volley. Brennan Johnson added a third six minutes later to cap Burnley’s tough return to top-flight football.

Spurs, missing creative options James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski due to injuries, looked sharp under new head coach Thomas Frank, who took charge after leaving Brentford. Kudus was instrumental throughout, setting up both of Richarlison’s goals and creating several chances, including a near opener for Lucas Bergvall.

Burnley goalkeeper Martin Dubravka struggled to adapt to the new eight-second rule, conceding under pressure. Despite brief spells of Burnley attacking play, Spurs dominated possession and maintained control, marking an emphatic start for Frank’s managerial tenure.
