Nigeria’s box office surpassed N30 billion between 2023 and 2025, with leading cinemas across Lagos, Abuja and other major cities driving revenue growth despite admissions remaining below pre-2022 levels
Nigeria’s cinema industry generated more than N30 billion in box office revenue between 2023 and 2025, with 2025 recording a peak of about N15.6 billion from roughly 2.8 million admissions, reflecting strong year-on-year growth in ticket sales despite audience numbers remaining below pre-2022 levels. The rebound was supported by 122 cinemas nationwide and gradual improvements in admissions after a sharp decline that bottomed at 2.6 million in 2023, while key locations across Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Benin City and Ibadan emerged as major contributors to revenue growth.
The ranking highlights top-performing venues including Filmhouse Samonda, FilmHouse Ikota, Genesis Benin City, Genesis Festival Mall, Silverbird Jabi Lake Mall, Genesis Port Harcourt, FilmHouse Surulere, FilmHouse Lekki, EbonyLife Cinemas and Silverbird Ikeja, which were identified as the most significant drivers of box office performance based on screen capacity, admissions and gross earnings.
