Tinubu submits four new ambassadorial nominees

President Bola Tinubu has forwarded four additional names to the Senate for ambassadorial appointments. The nominees include Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, former Rivers sole administrator and ex-naval chief; Ita Enang, former senator; Chioma Ohakim, former Imo first lady; and Abdulrahman Dambazau, former interior minister and ex-chief of army staff. Their names were not part of the earlier list released by the presidency.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the president’s letter during Thursday’s plenary, where Tinubu urged lawmakers to grant “swift consideration” to fill key diplomatic positions. Akpabio referred the list to the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs with a one-week deadline for screening. The president had previously nominated Reno Omokri, Femi Fani-Kayode and Mahmood Yakubu as ambassadors.
