Tinubu orders 24-hour aerial surveillance over Kwara, Kebbi, Niger forests

President Bola Tinubu has ordered a 24-hour aerial security cordon over forests in Kwara, Kebbi, and Niger States to combat escalating kidnappings and terrorist attacks.

President Bola Tinubu has directed a 24-hour aerial surveillance and full security cordon across forests in Kwara, Kebbi, and Niger States following a surge in kidnappings and terrorist attacks.

According to presidential aide Sunday Dare, Tinubu ordered the Nigerian Air Force to maintain continuous monitoring of “the deepest stretches of the forests” while staying in constant communication with ground forces to support rescue operations.

Communities were urged to provide timely intelligence as recent abductions including the kidnapping of 25 students in Kebbi, the seizure of 38 worshippers in Kwara, and the abduction of over 300 students and teachers in Niger highlight the expanding reach of criminal groups exploiting remote terrain.

Authorities say the new directive aims to close these gaps and accelerate efforts to protect vulnerable communities and rescue victims.
