Tinubu extends Surveyor-General’s tenure by two years

Tinubu grants two-year extension to Surveyor-General AbuduGaniyu Adebomehin to strengthen geospatial and land reform initiatives.

President Bola Tinubu has approved a two-year tenure extension for the Surveyor-General of the Federation, Mr. AbuduGaniyu Adebomehin.

According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the extension takes effect from January 5, 2026, and aims to consolidate reforms in geospatial data systems and land administration.

The Office of the Surveyor-General was recently moved to the Presidency, bringing national surveying and geospatial operations under direct executive oversight.

“The President expects Mr Adebomehin to consolidate the reforms within the next two years, focusing on national land management and administration, highways and abutting land infrastructure coordination, reclamation and erosion control programmes,” Onanuga said.

Adebomehin was appointed in January 2022 by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
