President Bola Ahmed Tinubu departed Abuja on Monday for a state visit to Turkey aimed at deepening bilateral relations between the two nations. The trip seeks to expand cooperation in security, education, social development, innovation, and aviation, according to Special Adviser on Social Media Dada Olusegun. The President was accompanied by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Imo Governor Hope Uzodinma, and other officials.
The visit reciprocates Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s October 2021 state visit to Nigeria. Presidential adviser Bayo Onanuga confirmed the trip would include “strategic political and diplomatic engagements, focusing on shared interests in finance, communication, trade and investment.” Nigeria and Turkey are expected to hold discussions on strengthening their existing cordial relations and exploring new areas of partnership during Tinubu’s stay.
