Terrorists have kidnapped traditional ruler Oba Bayagan in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, an attack residents say “happened suddenly,” deepening fear across the community.
The abduction adds to a worrying spike in violent incidents in Kwara, occurring just weeks after armed groups invaded a church in Eruku, Ekiti LGA, abducting worshippers who were later rescued, and another gang stormed Isapa community, kidnapping at least 11 residents.
Authorities and locals report that Kwara’s rural areas have increasingly become targets for armed groups, with the latest incident heightening concerns over deteriorating security across neighbouring LGAs.
