A 17-year-old boy is in custody after a shooting early Saturday in New York City’s Times Square injured three people, police said.
The incident occurred around 1:20 a.m. when the suspect, whose name was not released, argued with a 19-year-old man riding a rented bike and opened fire, striking him in the foot, the New York Post reported. Bullets also hit a 65-year-old man in the leg and grazed the neck of an 18-year-old woman, according to a New York City Police Department spokesperson cited by The New York Times.
All three victims were hospitalized and are expected to survive. The woman was in an Uber with her family at the time, while the older man was standing nearby.
“We were traumatized. If anyone told me to come to Times Square for even $1 million, I wouldn’t do it,” the woman’s father told the Post.
Police said it was unclear whether the suspect knew the victims. Charges had not been filed as of Saturday.
