Nigerian-Canadian tech founder Yemi Ifegbuyi has launched SafeNigeria.org, a powerful new open-source platform designed to track, map, and organize Nigeria’s fast-rising cases of kidnappings, banditry, terrorism, and violent attacks. With insecurity worsening and reports often scattered or unverified, the platform aims to bring clarity, transparency, and real-time intelligence to Nigerians at home and abroad.

SafeNigeria.org works as a centralized incident tracker, allowing citizens to submit verified reports through a simple anonymous form. It collects nationwide data on kidnappings, attacks, and safety incidents, giving users access to an interactive map, real-time filters, and trend analysis that highlight hotspots and emerging patterns.

According to founder Yemi Ifegbuyi, his motivation comes from deep concern for Nigeria’s deteriorating safety situation. “Every day, families wake up to fear and uncertainty. Technology and open-data platforms can empower citizens, security experts, and policymakers to anticipate threats and support real solutions,” he said.

The platform will empower the Nigerians, community groups, NGOs and security analysts who need accurate and organized data to push for reforms and community-led safety initiatives.
SafeNigeria.org also calls for collective action, inviting Nigerians to:
• Submit security incidents/reports like kidnapping, banditry etc
• Volunteer as data reviewers and fact-checkers
• Help analyze patterns and emerging threats

With its interactive map, trend insights, and real-time filtering, SafeNigeria.org is positioned to become a major civic tool in the fight against insecurity. The platform is now live and open to all Nigerians seeking reliable, organized information on the country’s growing security crisis.
