The Supreme Court has dismissed a suit by the Osun State Government against the Federal Government concerning withheld local government funds. The court ruled the state lacked the legal standing to file the case.
The judgment clarified that local government councils, being autonomous, are the proper entities to sue the Federal Government. The court also advised the FG to respect the fiscal autonomy of local governments.
