Super Eagles return to training after allowances dispute settled

The Super Eagles have resumed training after earlier boycotting sessions over unpaid allowances. Captain William Troost-Ekong confirmed the matter had been resolved, assuring fans the team remains “focused on the games ahead.”

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have returned to training following a brief boycott over unpaid allowances. On Tuesday, players and officials skipped their evening session due to outstanding payments for qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup playoff.

While details of the agreement with the Nigeria Football Federation were not disclosed, captain William Troost-Ekong confirmed on X that the concerns had been settled. “Issue RESOLVED. We are together and as before focussed on the games ahead!” he wrote.

The team is preparing for their semi-final clash against Gabon on Thursday, with the winner set to face either Congo DR or Cameroon in the final for Africa’s sole intercontinental playoff slot for the 2026 World Cup.
