Former Zamfara governor and senator, Abdulaziz Yari, has cautioned Nigerians — especially political elites — against seeking the intervention of U.S. President Donald Trump in resolving the country’s security challenges. Speaking at the launch of the One Nigeria Project in Abuja, Yari said “Trump has no business in Nigeria,” insisting that Nigeria’s problems must be solved internally.
He criticised elites for looking abroad for solutions while failing to put the nation first, warning that no foreign leader will fix Nigeria if its own leaders remain divided and uncommitted. Yari also called for stronger and more autonomous local governments, while other speakers, including Micheal Aondoakaa and Samuel Ortom, backed local empowerment and urged support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
