A Local Court sitting in Kabushi, Zambia, has heard testimony from a woman, Deborah Chipili, who claimed she was spiritually attacked by unknown forces that affected her ability to have sexual relations with her husband. Deborah, 39, told the court that the alleged spiritual affliction prevented her husband, Joshua Katuta, from penetrating during intercourse, prompting her to seek the dissolution of their marriage.
In her testimony, Deborah said she was happily married until she fell ill in 2011, a condition she claimed disrupted her sleep and worsened over time. She told the court that she decided to end the marriage and return the dowry to set her husband free, noting that her condition improved whenever she was away from their matrimonial home. Joshua, in his response, said he still loved his wife but confirmed that their sexual relationship had been affected since she began experiencing persistent stomach pains.
