South-West governors hold emergency security meeting in Ibadan

South-West governors, led by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, are holding an urgent meeting in Ibadan to address rising security threats, review Amotekun operations, and discuss regional development under the DAWN initiative.

Governors from the six South-West states—Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti—are gathering in Ibadan for an unscheduled emergency meeting hosted by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde at the Governor’s Office, Agodi.

While details remain limited, sources indicate the closed-door session aims to tackle escalating security threats in the region, fast-track infrastructural development, and strengthen regional integration under the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN).

The governors are also expected to review ongoing collaborative security initiatives, including the operations of the Amotekun Corps, with the objective of enhancing its capacity to respond effectively to emerging challenges across the zone.
