Showdown looms as Rivers Assembly successfully serves impeachment notice on Fubara

The Rivers State Government has confirmed that impeachment notices have been successfully served on Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, following the commencement of impeachment proceedings by the State House of Assembly. The assembly began the process on Thursday during an emergency plenary session, where 26 lawmakers accused the governor of misconduct allegedly capable of undermining democracy in the state.

According to the notice addressed to the governor, it bore the signatures of at least 19 members of the House and listed about eight allegations of gross misconduct against Governor Fubara and his administration. The assembly announced the development in a post on its official Facebook page, stating that the impeachment notice had been duly served on the governor.
