Senator Godiya Akwashiki dies at 52 in Indian hospital

Sen. Godiya Akwashiki (SDP/Nasarawa North) has died at the age of 52, following a protracted illness.

A family source, who confirmed the incident to  the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on condition of anonymity on Thursday in Nassarawa Eggon, said that Akwashiki died in an Indian hospital on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025.

The source equally revealed that late Godiya AKwashiki has been seriously sick for some period of time, and was taken out of the country to India for treatment.

Akwashiki was born August 3, 1973, in Angba Iggah village in Nasarawa Eggon local government area of Nasarawa state.

He was elected into office during the 2019, general under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) elections and was reelected under the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in 2023, general elections.

Before he was elected into Senate chamber, late Akwashiki was majority leader and the deputy speaker of Nasarawa state House of Assembly.SFDASX
