Each claim enabled them to secure favorable interest rates, potentially saving tens of thousands of dollars.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and his wife Angela reportedly claimed three separate homes as their primary residence in mortgage documents, according to a review by the Associated Press.

Each claim enabled them to secure favorable interest rates, potentially saving tens of thousands of dollars.

Legal experts say it’s a federal and state crime to knowingly submit false statements in mortgage filings. “If he filled out lender documents knowing they were false… that would be actionable,” said Texas real estate attorney Arif Lawji.

Paxton, a U.S. Senate candidate, has faced legal scrutiny before. He was impeached in 2023 by the Texas House and later acquitted by the Senate. His office also investigates mortgage fraud, raising further ethical concerns.

Angela Paxton, a Texas state senator, filed for divorce this year, citing infidelity and “recent discoveries.” Neither Paxton nor his representatives responded to requests for comment.

While President Trump’s DOJ investigates Democrats for similar issues, experts say Paxton is unlikely to face serious legal consequences in Texas.
