Salah wins record third PFA Player of the Year award

Salah becomes the first player to win the PFA award three times after an outstanding season.

Mohamed Salah has become the first footballer to win the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Player of the Year award three times after being honoured on Tuesday.

The Liverpool forward, who joined the club in 2017, was the Premier League’s top scorer last season with 29 goals and also provided 18 assists, helping his side secure the league title, 10 points clear of Arsenal. Salah also claimed the Premier League Player of the Season, the Golden Boot, and the Playmaker award, becoming the first player to sweep all three honours in one campaign.

The 33-year-old, who previously won the PFA award in 2018 and 2022, topped a six-man shortlist that included Alexis Mac Allister, Alexander Isak, Bruno Fernandes, Declan Rice and Cole Palmer.

Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers was named Young Player of the Year, while Arsenal’s Mariona Caldentey took Women’s Player of the Year.
