Nottingham Forest have reportedly identified Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers as their preferred replacement for Nuno Espirito Santo, whose future at the City Ground is under increasing scrutiny.
Nuno admitted his relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis has deteriorated. “I always had a very good relationship with the owner. Last season was very, very, very close, almost on a daily basis. This season, not so well,” he said. The Portuguese coach also faces tension with new global head of football Edu over transfer business, which started slowly before four late arrivals.
According to reports, Marinakis has “had his sights on Rodgers for months” and is a strong admirer of the former Liverpool boss, who is in the final year of his Celtic contract. Rodgers, however, dismissed suggestions he could leave Parkhead early. “Absolutely no chance. No chance. We’ve done that one before. It didn’t go down well!” he said.
