Sixteen lawmakers from the Rivers State House of Assembly, including Speaker Martin Amaewhule, have left the Peoples Democratic Party. They have now officially joined the rival All Progressives Congress.
The Speaker announced the defection during a Friday plenary session, citing a “clear division” within the PDP as the reason for the legislators’ decision to switch their political allegiance.
