The General Overseer of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has described the ongoing political conflict between Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as a spiritual issue that cannot be resolved by human intervention. Speaking in a sermon captured in a video that has since gone viral, the Port Harcourt-based cleric said no mortal man, including the President, has the capacity to end the crisis, insisting that only divine intervention can bring lasting peace to the state.
Ibiyeomie drew parallels with past political leadership disputes in Rivers State, noting a recurring pattern of successors turning against their benefactors. He recalled that former governors Peter Odili and Chibuike Amaechi had similar fallouts with their political mentors, just as Wike later clashed with Amaechi, and now Fubara is in conflict with Wike. According to the pastor, the cycle would likely repeat itself even if Fubara were to anoint a successor, arguing that the persistent nature of the crisis shows it is not a physical or political problem but a spiritual one.
