Actress Regina Daniels’ mother, Rita Daniels, denied claims she forced or “sold” her daughter into marriage with politician Senator Ned Nwoko, stating she was the last to know about the relationship, and her initial opposition was overcome by her daughter’s determination.
Rita Daniels, mother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, has addressed the long-standing controversy surrounding her daughter’s marriage to politician and businessman Senator Ned Nwoko, asserting she never supported the union initially.
Speaking in an interview recorded on October 3, Rita Daniels denied reports that she had arranged or “sold” her daughter into the marriage. “What they did not know is that even I did not know when they started the relationship. With everything that was going on, I was the last person to know they were in a relationship,” she told BBC News Igbo.
The clarification comes as Regina Daniels is again in the public eye after a viral video showed her accusing her husband of domestic violence, allegations Nwoko denied, citing her struggles with “drug and alcohol use.”
Rita Daniels said she was initially “weak” when Nwoko approached her after his political campaign. Faced with her daughter’s insistence, she felt compelled to stand by her, concluding, “So it is better for me that they heap the blame on me, tear me apart, and call me all sorts of names. I will rather take it.”
