A member of the US House of Representatives, Riley Moore, has described the rescue of 100 abducted schoolchildren from St. Mary’s Private Catholic Primary and Secondary School in Niger State as a positive indicator of President Bola Tinubu’s response to Nigeria’s security challenges.
In an X post on Monday, Moore reflected on his meeting with National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, part of ongoing discussions following recent US–Nigeria engagements over alleged Christian persecution.
Moore confirmed that both countries have now established a joint task force, noting that “there were concrete steps and actions discussed at length” to enhance nationwide security and dismantle terrorist groups. He thanked the Nigerian government for rescuing the pupils, calling it evidence of Tinubu’s “increasing response to the security situation.”
While acknowledging progress, he said more work remains but noted a clear willingness by Nigeria to cooperate with the US.
