Qatari delegation pledges $300bn investment in Nigeria’s economy

A Qatari delegation has pledged $300 billion in investments across Nigeria’s key sectors, signaling renewed investor confidence in President Tinubu’s economic reforms.

A Qatari business delegation led by Sheikh Abdulrahman Hamad N. H. Al-Thani has pledged to invest about $300 billion in Nigeria’s economy over the next decade. The announcement was made at a reception in Lagos hosted by Elan Vert Nigeria Limited.

Chairperson Princess Adebowale Odutola described the commitment as a “historic moment” reflecting global confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reforms. “If you do not invest in Nigeria between now and the next 10 years, you’re locked out,” Odutola quoted the investors as saying.

Dr. Abdelgalil Sharaf, CEO of Future Union Group, said the initiative aimed to channel Arab funds into Africa’s development, adding, “We are happy to be in Nigeria.” APC chieftain Abdul-Azeez Adediran (Jandor) said the move confirmed restored investor confidence, while Lagos lawmaker Adedamola Kasunmu praised the synergy between public and private sectors. The delegation is expected to meet officials in Abuja to begin implementation plans.
