Former Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun said influential figures exploited her NYSC certificate controversy to force her resignation from Buhari’s government. She disclosed this on Channels Television, stating, “I had powerful enemies who saw an opening and decided it was time to get rid of me.” She added that Buhari backed her decision to resign and pursue legal action.
Adeosun, who stepped down in 2018, said suing the government while serving would have been unethical. “You can’t be suing the government and remain in government at the same time,” she said. She stressed resignation was the only option to defend her name, adding, “The day I resigned, I went straight to the president and told him I needed to leave, but I would go to court to defend my name.”
