Nigeria is mourning the death of Otunba Adekunle Ojora, a revered Lagos royal whose life and legacy significantly shaped Yoruba cultural and traditional institutions.
A prominent Lagos royal and traditional leader, Otunba Adekunle Ojora, has died. The Ojora family announced that the Otunba of Lagos and Lisa of Ife passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, January 28. Born on June 13, 1932, he was widely respected for his service to Yoruba culture and Lagos chieftaincy affairs.
Tributes poured in from Nigerians, highlighting his influence and legacy. Mohd Bashir Abdulyekeen wrote: “Though Baba is aged and we thank God for a life well lived, his passing will certainly be painful as he’s a family pillar and support.” The late royal is survived by children, grandchildren, and an extended family, including his daughter, Toyin Ojora-Saraki.
