Police, NSCDC officers clash in Ebonyi, leaving one dead, others injured

A violent clash between police and NSCDC operatives in Ebonyi State has left one officer dead and several others injured.

A clash between operatives of the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Amaeze community, Ivo LGA of Ebonyi State, has left one policeman dead and others injured.

Confirming the incident, Ivo LGA Chairman Emmanuel Ajah said, “I was informed by the DPO that there was a clash involving the police and civil defence officers… unfortunately, one police officer lost his life.”

Eyewitnesses alleged the officer, identified as Shedrack, was mistakenly shot by colleagues during an exchange of gunfire after police reportedly intercepted an NSCDC van. Injured officers are receiving treatment, while the police and NSCDC authorities have yet to issue an official statement.
