At least eleven persons suspected to be involved in the September 29, 2025, robbery that led to the death of ARISE News anchor and producer, Miss Somtochukwu Maduagwu, have been arraigned before a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, following investigations by the FCT Police Command into the incident at Unique Apartments, Katampe Extension, Mabushi, Abuja, where Maduagwu and a security guard, Mr. Barnabas Danlami, were killed, with police alleging that Danlami was shot dead while trying to prevent the assailants from gaining access to the premises, while the suspects claimed that Maduagwu jumped from her second-floor apartment while attempting to escape, as the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said in a statement on Wednesday that the defendants — identified as Shamsu Hassan, Sani Sirajo, Hassan Isah, Abubakar Alkamu, Abdulsalam Saleh, Suleiman Badamasi, Zaharadeen Mohammed, Musa Umar, also known as “Small,” Mashkur Jamil, Suleiman Sani, and Abubakar Usman — were arraigned on a nine-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, and murder, adding that “The FCT Police Command has today arraigned eleven (11) suspects linked to the murder of Ms. Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu, Esq., and Mr. Barnabas Danlami, a security guard, who were killed during a robbery incident at Unique Apartments, Katampe Extension, Mabushi, Abuja, on 29th September 2025,” with the case adjourned to February 2026 for further proceedings, while the command urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through its emergency lines.
