A group known as the Concerned Plateau Fulani Forum, CPFF, has alleged that while Christians continue to speak of a “Christian genocide” in Plateau State, there is simultaneously “Fulani and cow genocide” being carried out by native militias, claiming that more than 3,000 Fulani people and over 10,000 cows have been killed or stolen in areas such as Bokkos, Barkin Ladi, Mangu, Riyom, and Bassa.
The group’s National Coordinator, Saleh Haruna, insisted that the killings of Fulani people “far outweigh” those of Christians, which he described as mostly “reprisal attacks,” and warned that if Christian leaders plan to show alleged mass graves to the international community, Fulani leaders may “go against our culture” to exhume their own slain people as well.
Haruna echoed claims by Sheikh Ahmad Gumi that Christians “bury empty caskets” to create a false impression of mass graves, adding that Fulani losses have been understated because “most of the media” is run by Christians who highlight attacks only “when a few Christians become victims.”
