The fragile peace in Katsina State suffered another blow yesterday when bandits stormed Doguwar Dorawa…”
Bandits killed two respected community leaders and abducted several residents in Katsina State yesterday, dealing another blow to the state’s recent ‘peace deal’ with armed groups. The attack occurred in Doguwar Dorawa, a small farming community near Guga in Bakori Local Government Area (LGA), on Friday, November 7, 2025.
According to DAILY TRUST reporting, community sources stated the assailants invaded the village around 10 p.m. They slaughtered two brothers, Alhaji Bishir and Alhaji Surajo, both regarded as pillars of leadership. A community leader, Mahadi Danbinta Guga, confirmed they were “killed in cold blood.”
The attackers operated freely for “more than an hour” killing, looting, and abducting people without any resistance, according to residents, who reported the assailants came on motorcycles and walked into the village to avoid detection. The incident has renewed anger among locals, who now view the peace pact as a “failed experiment.”
The killings follow a peace accord entered into in the second week of October by Bakori, Malumfashi, and Funtua LGAs. Simultaneously, another community, Layin ‘Yannehu, was attacked, with bandits rustling a large number of animals. As of the time of filing this report, neither the Katsina State Government nor the Bakori Local Government Council had issued any official statement.
