Pastor Timothy Omotoso deported to Nigeria from South Africa

Pastor Timothy Omotoso, recently acquitted of rape and trafficking charges, has been deported to Nigeria after being declared a prohibited person in South Africa.

Controversial Nigerian pastor Timothy Omotoso was deported from South Africa on Sunday following a home affairs decision declaring him a prohibited person.

The 66-year-old head of Jesus Dominion International Church was escorted by officials from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg after agreeing to a voluntary deportation process.

Omotoso was arrested in East London last week after losing an appeal against the ban.

He and two co-accused were acquitted on 32 charges, including rape and human trafficking, on April 2.

Judge Irma Schoeman ruled the state failed to disprove the accused’s version, despite mishandled witness testimonies by the NPA.
