Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo has sparked online debate after unveiling a new arm tattoo, with followers divided over its appropriateness for a religious leader.
Relationship coach and lead pastor of David Christian Centre (DCC), Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo, has generated mixed reactions on social media after sharing a photo of a new tattoo on his arm. The tattoo, posted on his Instagram page with the caption “3:16,” quickly drew attention from followers, many of whom questioned whether it aligns with his position as a pastor, while others defended his personal choice.
The post triggered a flurry of comments, with some users insisting that Christian faith is rooted in the heart rather than outward appearance, while critics referenced biblical passages discouraging tattoos. @iamqneth wrote: “The Bible says we should not make a mark on our skin. The Bible hasn’t changed, so hmm…” Another user, @ladyrosabel, commented: “For those of us who have something to say but chose not to, may the peace of the Lord be with us.”
Others were more direct in their criticism, citing Leviticus 19:28 to argue that tattoos are incompatible with pastoral leadership. @sailorojay said: “It baffles me. Does this pastor not know it’s a sin to tattoo his skin? Pastors should lead their members according to the Bible, not pick verses that only suit them.” Similarly, @papcy_valery wrote: “Leviticus 19:28 – Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD,” while @morriiech added: “And the same pastor will preach about getting tattoo is evil right? Hey God😂”
