A new Pan-African initiative, ‘Difference She Makes,’ is promoting women’s leadership in Africa’s legal and justice sector by challenging structural and cultural barriers. The movement, which has reached over 6 million people, recognises individuals and institutions advancing women in law and drives accountability and fairness through storytelling, advocacy, and dialogues. Leaders involved include Linda Kasonde, Becky Dike, Tamika Thumbiran, Judge Mohini Moodley, and Natasha Ali Errey.
Advocate Irene Kerubo said, “This campaign is a timely intervention… to drive accountability and reimagine environments where women in law can lead and thrive.” The initiative, launched in 2025, partners with NALAFEM to coordinate advocacy and share best practices across Africa. Its regional engagements will contribute to global discussions at the 70th UN Commission on the Status of Women, supported by platforms such as Legally Clueless, Drunken Lectures, Nalafem, and East Africa Media Group.
