Overnight UFO crash in Poland sparks panic after powerful blast

An unidentified flying object crashed into a cornfield in eastern Poland, exploding loudly and shaking nearby homes. Authorities suspect it may have been a drone.

An unidentified flying object crashed into a cornfield in eastern Poland early Wednesday, causing a powerful explosion that shook nearby houses but left no injuries, according to state news agency PAP.

Police said the incident occurred around 2 a.m. near the village of Osiny, where officers discovered burned metal and plastic debris. Some homes had windows shattered by the blast.

Poland’s Armed Forces Operational Command confirmed no airspace violations from neighboring Ukraine or Belarus were recorded overnight. Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz later suggested the object was “most likely a drone,” though investigations continue to determine whether it was military or used for smuggling.

Local resident Pawel Sudowski told Lukow.tv, “It exploded so loudly that the whole house simply shook.”

Civilian and military investigators, supported by army units, are examining the site, prosecutors said.

The incident adds to previous airspace concerns since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, including missile and debris intrusions into Polish territory.
