President Bola Tinubu spoke by phone with former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua following a tragic accident in Ogun State that left Joshua injured and two of his associates dead. The call, disclosed by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, allowed Tinubu to personally convey his condolences and pray for the boxer’s recovery.
Tinubu also contacted Joshua’s mother and Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, who was at the hospital. “She was very appreciative of my call,” Tinubu said, while the governor assured that Joshua would receive the best possible care.
Earlier, while abroad, Tinubu expressed sympathy on X, highlighting Joshua’s courage and national pride. “I pray for strength, wisdom, and grace for you during this painful period. May God grant you a speedy recovery and repose to the souls of the departed,” the president said.
