Anambra residents have expressed outrage over an alleged N100m transfer to the son of former IGP Kayode Egbetokun, though the state government denies any involvement and says the funds were reversed.
There is public outrage in Anambra State following reports that N100 million was allegedly transferred from a state government account to Victor Egbetokun, son of former Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun. The funds were reportedly sent in four tranches of N25 million. Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin said the transfer was confirmed and reversed after the recipient was advised to notify his bank.
Critics questioned the circumstances of the transfer, with Kingsley Ubani describing it as “an indictment on Professor Chukwuma Soludo.” However, the governor’s Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, denied state involvement, stating, “It was an honest error and has already been reversed… Anambra State Government has no hand in the transfer.”
