The Osun chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended its December 2 governorship primary, warning that Governor Ademola Adeleke may abandon his bid for the 2026 ticket unless the party’s national leadership crisis is resolved in line with INEC requirements.
Party chairman Sunday Bisi said the “suspension and counter-suspension of key national officers” created uncertainty around congresses and transmission of candidate names, adding: “In the light of the foregoing, it has become inevitable, indeed unavoidable, that the PDP governorship primaries earlier slated for Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025, can no longer hold as scheduled.” He noted that Adeleke remains the sole aspirant who has completed all procedures but may no longer be “interested in seeking the nomination of the PDP… except a resolution recognized by INEC is reached within the INEC timeline.”
