”One-chance” fear grips Abuja as nurse, lawyer killed in separate roadside incidents

Barely days after the body of a nurse with the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jabi, was found by the roadside in Abuja, the body of an Abuja-based female lawyer has also been discovered along the Kubwa Expressway, raising fresh concerns over security in the Federal Capital Territory. The nurse, identified as Chinemerem Chuwumeziem, reportedly finished her afternoon shift on January 3, 2026, and boarded a vehicle home but never arrived, with her lifeless body later found dumped by the roadside under circumstances that are yet to be clarified.

Similarly, the body of the lawyer, identified as Princess Chigbo Mediatrix and believed to be a former Treasurer of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Abuja Branch, was found at a separate location along the Kubwa Expressway. Social media reports suggested she may have been a staff member of the FCT High Court, although this could not be independently verified. Her bag was reportedly found some distance from her body, fuelling suspicions that she may have fallen victim to “one-chance” criminals, a pattern often associated with robbery and assault involving unsuspecting commuters.
