Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga on Tuesday dismissed concerns over President Bola Tinubu’s health, explaining that the President only lost balance in Turkey after stepping on a metal object.
Presidential Spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, has said President Bola Tinubu briefly lost his balance in Ankara, Turkey, after stepping on a metal object on the floor. Onanuga spoke on Tuesday while addressing enquiries about the President’s well-being following reports of an incident during an official engagement in the Turkish capital.
Daily Trust had earlier reported that President Tinubu missed his step and fell while walking alongside his Turkish counterpart, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, after inspecting a parade as part of the reception accorded him. A review of the video of the incident showed that the President went down shortly after a cameraman moved his tripod stand close to him.
Clarifying the situation, Onanuga said the incident was minor and had been exaggerated. “The President stepped on a metal on the floor, which made him lose his balance,” he said. “This is not a big deal, except for those who want to make mischief out of a fleeting incident. It was a mere stumble, thank God, not a fall.”
