Onanuga criticises Kanu’s counsel Ejimakor for participating in #FreeNnamdiKanu protest

President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, publicly criticized Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, for joining the recent #FreeNnamdiKanu protest in Abuja, accusing him of violating the principle of sub judice and using “extra-legal tactics” in an ongoing treason case.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, has openly criticized Aloy Ejimakor, one of Nnamdi Kanuโ€™s lawyers, for participating in the #FreeNnamdiKanu protest organized by activist Omoyele Sowore in Abuja.
โ€‹In a post shared via his X handle, Onanuga voiced his disappointment, stating: “I wonder what Mr. Ejimakor was thinking when he decided to join this shambolic protest.”โ€‹The Presidential aide argued that by joining the demonstration, Ejimakor violated the principle of sub judice, as the treason case against Kanu is still before the court.

Onanuga asserted that the lawyer should be focused on preparing a strong defence now that the prosecution has concluded its case.
โ€‹He added that Ejimakor has “resorted to extra-legal tactics, joining a career anarchist to influence the process.”
โ€‹Onanuga further urged legal authorities to consider disciplinary action against the counsel, describing his action as unethical and unbecoming of a legal practitioner. The protest, which began near the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, was reportedly dispersed by security operatives using tear gas.
