Omisore slams APC disqualification as “huge joke”

Former APC National Secretary Senator Iyiola Omisore denounced his disqualification from the Osun governorship primary as “a huge joke,” alleging the screening committee’s lack of credibility and unfair report was influenced by external pressure, specifically naming Minister Gboyega Oyetola.

Former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore, has fiercely criticised his disqualification, alongside six others, from the Osun State governorship primary race, branding the decision “a huge joke.” Speaking to journalists after an appearance before the APC Appeal Committee in Abuja on Saturday, Omisore accused the screening committee of unfairness and a lack of credibility, suggesting the panel’s report was influenced externally. He also stated that neither he nor the other aspirants were formally notified of any shortcomings, insisting the basis for the disqualification lacked merit.

The APC Screening Panel had on Friday disqualified Omisore, former Deputy Governor Benedict Alabi, and five other aspirants. However, Mulikat Abiola Jimoh and Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji were cleared to contest. Omisore dismissed the committee’s finding that aspirants lacked the required number of nominators and alleged the screening chairman privately admitted to coming under pressure from Minister Gboyega Oyetola. “That panel report is the biggest joke of the year,” Omisore maintained, expressing confidence theparty’s NWC would overturn the decision.
