‘Omije Ojumi’ singer’s ex-husband makes fresh bombshell claims after chaos at burial

Controversy has emerged following the burial of late gospel singer Bunmi Akinnaanu, as her estranged husband, Rotimi Adeoye, makes public allegations about their marriage and family life.

Fresh claims about the late Bunmi Akinnaanu, popularly known as Omije Ojumi, surfaced after a YouTube broadcast on Yeye Kudi Courtroom TV reportedly played a recorded phone conversation with her estranged husband, Rotimi Adeoye. In the audio, Adeoye allegedly discussed the history of their marriage, their separation, and his strained relationship with their children. The revelations come days after what was expected to be a solemn burial reportedly descended into chaos, sparking widespread debate on social media. Eyewitnesses said that accusations of abandonment, infidelity, brainwashing, and custody disputes were exchanged among family members and associates during the graveside service.

Akinnaanu and Adeoye married in 2006, first at Surulere Magistrate Court and later at ECWA Church, Mushin. Their marriage reportedly collapsed around 2010 and was legally dissolved between 2017 and 2018. Sources familiar with the situation said the marriage faced challenges including relocation to the United Kingdom, financial strain, and ongoing personal disagreements, with custody of their children becoming a major source of conflict.

Adeoye, who is believed to be living abroad and has reportedly remarried, claimed that Akinnaanu returned to Nigeria and raised their children as a single mother until her death from illness in late 2025. During her illness, public fundraising was organised to support her medical treatment, underscoring the financial pressures she faced while caring for her family alone.
