The Ohanaeze Youth Council has declared five former South-East governors *persona non grata* and called for their social ostracization over their early endorsement of President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) has officially declared five prominent South-East political figures Senator David Umahi, Sullivan Chime, Dr. Chris Ngige, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as *persona non grata* in Igboland. During a press briefing in Enugu on Sunday, OYC National President Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka accused the former governors of “political betrayal” for endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027. The council described the endorsement as a self-serving move that ignores the region’s grievances, including marginalization and the continued incarceration of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
The OYC leadership further alleged that the former governors are seeking political protection to evade potential investigations by the EFCC and ICPC into their eight-year tenures. Igboayaka criticized the leaders’ past performances, questioning their credibility and current electoral influence within the South-East. The group argued that these politicians have prioritized personal survival over the collective economic well-being and political interests of Ndigbo.
In response to the perceived betrayal, the Council called for a total social and political ostracization of the five individuals, urging citizens to boycott their activities. Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, the OYC announced a “Ballot Revolution” aimed at using Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to retire “expired politicians.” The group vowed to mobilize grassroots support to replace the blacklisted leaders with representatives dedicated to the advancement of Ala Igbo.
