Obidient Movement threatens protest over Senate’s e-transmission decision

The Obidient Movement has threatened a peaceful protest after the Senate declined to mandate real-time electronic transmission of election results.

The Obidient Movement Worldwide has threatened a mass protest against the National Assembly following the Senate’s rejection of mandatory real-time electronic transmission of election results. National Coordinator Yunusa Tanko, in a statement on Friday, described the decision as harmful to electoral credibility ahead of 2027, though no date was announced for the proposed march.

Tanko said, “The Obidient Movement vehemently condemns the Nigerian Senate’s recent decision to reject the mandatory electronic transmission of election results.” He added, “This decision by the National Assembly represents a direct assault on the foundations of Nigeria’s democracy,” urging Nigerians to join a peaceful march to demand urgent legislative action.
