Nudist resort faces lawsuit after enforcing clothing policy on residents

Residents of Olive Dell Ranch are suing management over a new rule requiring clothing, claiming it violates the resort’s nudist heritage.

Residents of a longtime nudist resort in California have filed a lawsuit against its management after being ordered to wear clothes at all times. The dispute centers on Olive Dell Ranch, a community east of Los Angeles that has operated as a nudist resort for decades.

According to court documents, management recently changed the rules, requiring residents to be fully dressed in common areas. “We moved here because it was a nudist park. For them to suddenly say it’s not anymore, that’s unfair,” one plaintiff said. The lawsuit, filed by seniors and veterans among others, argues that the new policy violates lease agreements and undermines the resort’s historic identity.

Management has defended the change, saying Olive Dell is transitioning into a “textile park” to attract broader visitors. Lawyers for the residents say they are determined to fight back.

The case has sparked wider debate about property rights and cultural freedoms in niche communities.
