Nollywood actor Stanley Amandi has been arrested in connection with an alleged coup plot, as the military confirms completed investigations and impending trials for implicated officers.
Nollywood actor and director Stanley Amandi has been arrested alongside military officers accused of plotting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s government. A source in the Actors Guild of Nigeria said Amandi, a former AGN Enugu chairman, was taken into custody in September 2025 over alleged propaganda roles.
The Defence Headquarters confirmed an unlawful plot, saying investigations were “comprehensive” and uncovered “a number of officers with allegations of plotting to overthrow the government,” conduct deemed “inconsistent with the ethics, values and professional standards required of members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.”
